Forward: My Anthony is now 16 and in High school. He was asked to write a max of 500 words on his opinion of this quote “The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather in a lack of will.”

Anthony Osasu James Guobadia was last seen sitting at the kitchen counter treating (Amazon) Alexa like an overpaid personal assistant. He was uploading this essay you are about to read for a leadership program he found to ensure he has a productive summer.

This guy!!! Enjoy the read.

– His proud dad….

We aren’t born to be good at everything, but everyone was put on earth to fulfil some purpose and be successful at something. The problem is that people generally have major roadblocks that prevent them from being truly successful.

The two biggest things that keep people from being successful each day is procrastination and pure laziness. “Laziness is known as procrastination that has gone out of control.” If we could eliminate these two habits the world would be a totally different place. More people would have the urge and willpower to get out of the bed and say no to the ten extra minutes of sleep time. People would do their homework as soon as they get home from school, instead of coming home and shoving all those school ideas and thoughts to the back of your head. They say “I’ll do it later. I would rather play video games and relax for an hour.” Thinking like this is how work ends up never getting done or cramming it in at the last hour.

Procrastination statistics estimate that “40% of people have experienced financial loss due to procrastination”. There have been surveys conducted that suggest that 85–95% of students have procrastination problems. Procrastination is all about delaying what you should be doing and not prioritizing your time wisely. I know I’m one of those people that would rather spend my time all day binge watching tv because it’s fun and relaxing but it’s not right to do that all the time. You have to think of time as a challenging skill game. We have this amount of time and moves to finish the game. We have to think reasonably to make it on time and with the right number of moves. In my economics class we learned about something called opportunity cost. For every hour you spend on something the less time you have for other things more or equally important.

To me this quote “The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather in a lack of will.” meant that the only thing keeping you from being successful is your mindset and how you chose to take on that challenge. This quote applies to me a lot. I absolutely feel like I’m bad at essay writing. When my teacher says we have to write I mentally break down for like two hours. Then I realize I can do it all I need to do is plan out what to write about in each paragraph.

Planning things can help people be successful in writing, day planning, schoolwork, your job, and even physical activities. Thinking you can’t do something, is the only thing that is keeping you from doing it.
